Board and Train Dog Training in Brandon, Mississippi

Board and train is the fastest way to build a foundation in a dog that has serious habits to unlearn or an owner whose schedule cannot support daily lessons. Your dog stays with Bailey outside Brandon, trains every day in real-world settings, and comes home with skills you are then taught to maintain. It is our highest-demand program and the one most families outside the Jackson metro choose.

This program is a good fit if...

  • Dogs with leash pulling, poor recall, jumping, or general unruliness that has become a daily problem
  • Reactive, fearful, or aggressive dogs that need consistent, skilled handling to make a real change
  • Owners with demanding schedules, travel, or young kids who cannot commit to daily lesson homework right now
  • Families outside Brandon and the Jackson metro who would rather make one trip than drive to weekly lessons
  • Dogs 6 months and older that have completed a free evaluation

It is probably not the right fit if...

  • Owners who want the dog fixed and returned with no handoff lesson or homework afterward
  • Dogs that have not yet been evaluated in person
  • Puppies younger than six months (see puppy training for what to do now)

What happens during a board-and-train stay

Your dog lives in Bailey's home, not in a kennel run. Board-and-train dogs share the living room, learn to settle while the household goes about its day, and train every day. Because every session is run by the same trainer with the same rules, the dog gets a level of consistency that is hard to reproduce in a busy household. Training happens in the environments that matter: quiet foundation work at home base, then neighborhood walks, parks, parking lots, stores, and around other dogs and people.

The first days are spent building engagement and clear communication so the dog understands how to earn rewards and what the leash and, when appropriate, the remote collar mean. From there we layer in the obedience that gives you control in real life: loose-leash heeling, a reliable recall, place, down-stay with duration, thresholds, and calm behavior around distractions. For dogs with reactivity or aggression, the obedience becomes the framework we use to change how the dog responds to triggers.

How long it takes and what you receive

Board-and-train stays run four to eight weeks. The exact length is recommended after your free evaluation and depends on your dog's age, history, and goals. While your dog is away you receive progress videos every week so you can see the work, plus texts and calls whenever you have a question.

  • Your dog lives in Bailey's home as part of the household, not in a kennel run
  • Daily structured training sessions run personally by Bailey, not a kennel staff
  • Weekly progress videos of your dog working
  • Real-world proofing in public settings around the Brandon and Jackson area
  • A full handoff lesson where you learn every command, tool, and rule your dog knows
  • Lifetime follow-up lessons for every board-and-train graduate, so you are never on your own

The handoff is where the program succeeds or fails

A dog that listens to a trainer but not to you is not a finished dog. That is why the handoff lesson is treated as the most important day of the program. You will practice the exercises with Bailey coaching you, learn what to reward, what to correct, how to use any tools your dog was trained on, and what the daily routine should look like for the first month home. If something slips later, you call, and we fix it, because follow-up lessons are included for the life of the dog.

Board and train for owners outside Central Mississippi

Because your dog stays with us, board and train works for families well beyond Brandon, Flowood, and Pearl. Owners regularly drive in from across Mississippi for drop-off, and drop-off and pickup times are scheduled around your trip. If you are more than an hour away, this is usually the program we recommend.

Out-of-state families are welcome too. At the end of the program you come to Brandon for the go-home lessons and stay in a nearby hotel or Airbnb for about four days while Bailey teaches you everything your dog learned. Several hands-on sessions over those days mean you leave confident instead of rushed, and drop-off and go-home dates are scheduled around your travel.

Board and Train: What Clients Say

Bailey agreed to help me out with my 8 month old Weimer. She was literally tearing the house and furniture apart, jumping and biting and actually hurting us. House training was out of the question. Then I found Bailey. He did what I thought impossible. After training (4 weeks seemed like 4 ever), Opal…my precious puppy, returned on a leash…without any signs of distress and walking with Bailey. Not just walking, if he stops she stops, if he turns she turns. It's amazing! I received videos of their progress every week and I could watch her and Bailey training together. Of course I was worried, but the texts, calls and videos always put my worries aside. I can't be more grateful. Oh…Bailey also had to train me on what Opal learned!! I rarely have to call Bailey and he still reaches out to check our progress. I highly recommend Bailey, He's a life changer.

FAQ

Board and Train Questions

Where does my dog stay during board and train?

Your dog lives in Bailey's home outside Brandon, Mississippi, as part of the household rather than in a kennel. Training happens there and in public places around the Brandon and Jackson area so the dog learns to listen where life actually happens. The exact location is shared when you book.

Can I visit my dog during the program?

Most owners find weekly videos plus texts and calls are the best way to stay connected without disrupting the training. Visits can be discussed case by case during the evaluation.

Will my dog listen to me, or only to Bailey?

Transferring the training to you is built into the program. The handoff lesson teaches you every command and rule, and lifetime follow-up lessons are included so problems get fixed instead of ignored.

Do you take board-and-train dogs from out of state?

Yes. Out-of-state families drop off at the start of the program and return for the go-home lessons at the end. Plan on staying in a hotel or Airbnb near Brandon for about four days so you get several hands-on sessions with your dog before the drive home.

How much does board and train cost?

Pricing depends on the dog, the length of stay, and the goals, so it is quoted after the free evaluation. Third-party financing is available for qualified clients.
